San Diego County Report Card on Children and Families

report cardThe Children's Initiative and County Board of Supervisors Chairman Greg Cox and Vice Chairwoman Dianne Jacob released the 2007 San Diego County Report Card on Children and Families at the County Administrative Office Building today. The new and revised Report Card documents the status of 25 leading indicators of child health and well-being and makes recommendations for program and policy change in San Diego.

The 2007 Report Card found that San Diego County performs better than the state and national averages on immunization, early care and education, and child poverty. Progress is shown in health coverage, injuries, and reading achievement. The Report Card underscores the need for increased efforts to reduce low birthweight births, youth-involved alcohol and drug related crashes, and childhood mortality.
